Margaret Mead is the most iconic anthropologist the U.S. has produced.
At Culture Academy, we love the example she set by offering easy-to-follow explanations about the complex nature of culture, human behavior and diversity that influences who we are, how we behave, how we worship, how we do business and how we love others.
In the late 50’s and early 60’s Margaret Mead brought the world into people’s homes with documentaries of world’s so foreign to America. Families often sped home to be there on time for her programs.
She presented these worlds with such casual eloquence: “Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.”
The spirit of this message drives much of how we lead our programs: “Anthropology demands the open-mindedness with which one must look and listen, record in astonishment and wonder that which one would not have been able to guess.”
At Culture Academy, our students become budding anthropologists, documentarians with Go-Pros and editing software. As we visit some of the most fascinating sites on earth, our students develop their own unique “take” of the experience to bring home to their friends and family. This element deepens the learning experience in a fun and exciting way. Want to produce the leaders of tomorrow? Help them develop an understanding of the world around them.
